FUSION STUDENTS WOW AUDIENCES AT SHEFFIELD ONE ACT FESTIVAL

One Act Festival by SADATA is an umbrella organisation representing the Amateur Theatre Societies in Sheffield and surrounding district. Over the course of three nights, a total of nine one act plays were performed by some of Sheffield’s leading drama societies. Fusion took to the stage with A Rat War, written by our own director Ross Bannister and performed by our Senior and Intermediate students. The piece was a much more intense and boundary pushing piece for Fusion, but was hugely well received by audience members. Performed at The Library Theatre Sheffield on Thursday 23rd June. Congratulations to everyone involved!

At Fusion we work hard to offer our students opportunities to develop and tune new skills towards their career in the arts. So we are excited to welcome back two of our most experienced students - Isa Wood and Kaiden Lowe - who will be returning as teaching assistants next term and in the run-up to productions. All the staff and students are very much looking forward to having them on the team, we hope they will gain much from some invaluable directing and rehearsing experience.

RED CARPET TREATMENT FOR FUSION PREMIER!

We were very excited to attend the Sheffield premier of TRiGGA starring some of our Fusion Students.

TRiGGA is a short film inspired by true events and follows a young girl who confronts the bullies with the help of her horse. As physical assaults become a daily reality, Mae retreats into a silent world and stops talking. Even her comedian father fails to get a laugh from her. Mae escapes the harsh reality of the bullies by galloping out at twilight on her trusty steed, Trigga. Everyone thinks Mae’s horse is a figment of her imagination until she takes Trigga into school. From that day, the bullying stops.

Directed & Written By Meloni Poole, Produced By Deborah Aston.

Congratulations to all our Fusion students involved in film and congratulations on a fantastic premier!

FUSION YOUTH COMPANY PRESENTS A CHORUS LINE!

We always strive to push our students to achieve the best in their performances. This year, we decided to have our senior students take on a very mature musical A Chorus Line. Full of professional choreography, vibrant characters and touching songs, this is going to be a show not to be missed!

A Chorus Line takes a backstage look into one day in the lives of thirteen dancers, auditioning for a place in the “chorus line” of a new Broadway musical. After the first round of cuts, Zach, the director, asks each dancer to speak about themselves. Within in the revelations of growing up pains, broken homes, body changes and embarrassing stories, the audience begins to see each dancer’s bright personality and individuality. Tension mounts when Cassie, once both a big star and the director's lover but now desperate for a part, auditions too. But Zach must choose only what is best for his show.

Based on real Broadway dancers’ stories, as told to fellow dancer and choreographer Michael Bennett, A Chorus Line is funny, heartbreaking, and refreshingly honest taking the audience on a journey behind the closed curtain of what goes on before a musical is on stage.
